Vision Statement
Creating a safe and healthy community by reducing substance abuse and its impact.
Mission Statement
The Edson and District Drug Action Coalition encourages the development of strong, healthy and vibrant communities; safe from the harmful effects of substance through prevention, intervention and education.
About Us:
History: 
The Edson and District Drug Action Coalition is a not-for-profit organization formed in October 2003 by concerned individuals and agencies working together to identify gaps, address the needs of the community and use the information and resources to address the community needs related to substance use.
Today:
Today EDDAC continues this work by coordinating efforts in reponse to the evolving substance use related issues, and the unique problems and circumstances substance use brings to Edson and surrounding communities.
Youth/Young Adult Outreach Program
The YOU Program provides direct services, support and educational programming to priority youth and young adults in Edson and area.  Outreach services are "youth/young adult driven", providing relevant, engaging and practical outreach support.  Additional programs include Peer Support Education and Youth/Young Adult Volunteer Program.
Steering Committee
The Steering Committee consists of 11 individuals representing the following:
Alberta Health Services Authority (ADDAC)
Alberta Employment and Immigration
Community Members
Region 7 Child and Family Services Authority
Edson Community Corrections
RCMP
Town of Edson
Yellowhead County
Sub-Committees
Two sub-committees consist of several individuals representing a wide span of the community.
Public Prevention and Awareness Committee
Focusing on building awareness, providing education and delivering prevention programming to all members of the community.
Support, Transistion and Dialogue Committee
Focusing on the needs and providing a voice for individuals with addictions, in recovery and those affected by another's use.
What does EDDAC do?
- Educate
- Build relationships in the community
- Reduce the use of substance
- Support those affected by substance use
- Build a safer community
How does the Drug Coalition help the community?
Working together to identify the gaps and then use that information to plan and address the needs of our community.
Coordinating efforts in response to drug related issues within our community.
Increase awareness of drug related issues and available services for those affected by their own use or another's use.
Pulls together a variety of skills, knowledge and enthusiasm, making efficient use of scarce resources.
Conserves resources by eliminating the duplication of services .
Volunteers
